Macie Rollins

Macie Rollins is a multidisciplinary artist based in Norfolk, VA, creating bold, sculptural works that blur the lines between art, design, and material experimentation. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting and Drawing from Old Dominion University in 2024.

Macie draws inspiration from artists such as Keith Haring, Karim Rashid, Peter Saul, and Henri Matisse. With a foundation in abstract art, Macies playful creations invite a multisensory exploration of textures, colors, and narratives that extend beyond the confines of the traditional frame. Her artistic interests are rooted in the experimental nature of movements like neo-futurism and postmodernism, focusing on bold color, playful energy, and the innovative use of materials.

Her work moves between painting, sculpture, and textiles, incorporating hand-tufted fibers and layered textures to create immersive, high-energy pieces. Macie’s process is driven by reimagining traditional ways of thinking and creating. She’s drawn to breaking boundaries—questioning how materials, color, and form can behave when freed from convention. Her work rejects limitation, embracing experimentation and intuitive problem-solving to transform familiar materials into sculptural, unexpected forms.

Among her achievements, Macie Rollins is a recipient of the Cachelin Advanced Project Supplies Grant and has exhibited her work at the James A. Hixon Art Gallery, Baron and Ellin Gordon Art Galleries, Suffolk Art Gallery, Museum of Contemporary Art in Virginia Beach, as well as being featured at the Chrysler Museum of Art for Ignite Inferno.
